Lahore – The Punjab government announces the revise financial assistance package for the family of a civil servant who dies while in service. This Family assistance package is based on employee’s basic pay scale.
Punjab government issue a notification regarding the assistance package for the victims family on December 07, 2023. According to the notification:
The caretaker government of the Punjab in its 32nd meeting held on November 21, 2023 revised the assistance package for the family of civil servant in Punjab.
One notable thing is that the rule of appoint of one child or widow in BS-1 to BS-11 (including the post of Patwari and Junior Clerk) on contract or regular basis are being discontinued.
Provisions of Rules 17-A of the PCS (A&CS) Rules, 1974.
As per notification, Governor of the Punjab has been pleased to approve following revision in the provisions of Sr. No. 1 & 5 of para-1 of existing financial assistance package notified vide Finance Department’s policy letter no. FD-SR-I/3-10/2024 dated August 15, 2017 for the families of civil servants who die while in service.
The revised rates are given below and applicable w.e.f. November 11, 2023.

Appointment of One Child – Discontinued
As I explained earlier that from now on the appointment of the child or widow in government service whether on contract or regular service is discontinued.
