Part I (Muhammadan Law)

Q.No.1: Discuss in detail different modes and types of divorce, as discussed by Islamic scholars. Also, explain the process adopted in Pakistan for a divorce to become effective.

Q.No.2: “Dower is a debt”. Explain this in the light of remedies available to a wife under Sharia and Pakistani law, if her dower is not paid.

Q.No.3: Critically evaluate different provisions of the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, 1961, with reference to the case titled, Allah Rakha versus Federation of Pakistan (PLD 2000 FSC 1).

Q.No.4: What is the philosophy behind ‘Iddat’? Define it and explain its kinds. Is Iddat compulsory in all kinds of separations?

Part-II (Registration Act)

Q.No.5: Can a registering officer refuse to register a document? If yes, on what grounds and what forums are available to the aggrieved party against such a refusal? Explain.

Q.No.6: Which persons are competent to present a document for registration? Also, explain the rules regarding documents presented by a power of attorney.

Part III (Limitation Act)

Q.No.7: What are the rules regarding the computation of the period of limitation? Explain in detail.

Q.No.8: Can a court by itself notice of limitation in a suit, without the objection of the opposing party?

Part-IV (Specific Relief Act)

Q.No.9: What are the grounds for the cancellation of an instrument? Can an instrument be partially cancelled?

Q.No.10: Which are the persons who can obtain specific performance of a contract and against whom a contract cannot be specifically enforced? Explain by quoting relevant case law.
