  • Filing income tax returns
  • Opening a bank account
  • Registering a business
  • Working with companies as a freelancer
  • Import/export and various legal matters

In 2025, registering for an NTN online is now easier than ever, thanks to the newly introduced method by FBR.

Step-by-Step Guide to FBR’s New NTN Registration Process

Here’s the step by step guide:

Step 1: Open the IRIS Dashboard

Start by going to the FBR IRIS portal. Click on the “New Registration” button to begin.

Step 2: Enter Your CNIC Details

A new form will appear where you must enter your valid CNIC Number without mistake. Because, if your CNIC number is wrong you will not be able to create your NTN.

On this same form, enter your CNIC validity Type like is it made for lifetime, or it has an expiry date. If you NIC has an expiry date then enter the here.

After that in the last section you must enter your full name (as per CNIC). Full name it mandatory because it will show up on the dashboard and on every transaction in FBR. So it must be correct and as per your CNIC otherwise, small spelling mistake can block your registration later. Click Next to continue.

Step 3: Enter Your Address Information

Now, choose the type of address based on your income source. If you are a salaried person, freelancer, or non-resident, enter your residential address.

If you run a business, select Business Address and fill in the Office address, Street number, Area/sector, City, and Tehsil (search and choose from the list); then click Next.

Step 4: Add Your Contact Information

This step requires accurate details. You need a valid email address. Always use your personal email that you can access immediately. Avoid spelling errors.

Then, choose your mobile network (Jazz, Zong, Telenor, etc.) Mobile number is mandatory because FBR will send you verification codes on both Email and Mobile number. That’s why enter the phone number registered on your CNIC.

Important: FBR will only accept a number linked with your own CNIC. If your SIM is not registered under your name, you may use a family member’s number registered on their CNIC — but using your own number is always best and safest.

Step 5: Verify Email and Mobile Codes

When you enter both email and mobile number, you will receive:

  • A verification code on your email
  • A verification code on your mobile

Enter both codes in their respective fields and proceed.

Step 6: Set Your Password and 4-Digit PIN

Unlike the old system where FBR emailed you the password, now you can create your own. Create a secure password, and a 4-digit PIN used for login and verification.

Step 7: Data Verification Through NADRA

Once you submit the form, FBR will automatically cross-match your details with NADRA by fetching your personal data and confirm all entries. If everything is correct, you will see a Success / Confirmation message. Your NTN registration is now complete.
