What is the Difference Between Warranty and Guarantee

The difference between warranty and guarantee is very thin. To understand the difference between a Warranty and Guarantee you should analyze their definitions first. Without understanding the terms, the difference cannot be understood.

Definition of Warranty

Warranty means “a written guarantee, issued to the purchaser of an article by its manufacturer, promising to repair or replace it if necessary within a specified period of time”.

Definition of Guarantee

A guarantee means “provide a formal assurance, especially that certain conditions will be fulfilled relating to a product, service, or transaction”.

Difference Between Warranty and Guarantee

The difference between these two is mentioned in the following lines.

How to Claim Warranty?

Warranty is issued in electronic or man-made products (in most cases). Warranty is given for 1, 2 or more than 2 years. In Warranty claim, if your product is damaged or broken, then the manufacturing company repaired it for you. The company will try hard to repair it as soon as possible. In the warranty claim, you cannot ask the company to give you a new product by replacing the old one. The company will analyze your product first, and if your product is not repairable then the company can give you a new product in place of the old one.

Warranty is given mostly in electronic products like Mobile, TV, Air Conditioner, Fridge and some other products are Furniture, Bed Mattress, etc. These are mostly man-made products. Every company gives the warranty to save itself from much damage to giving a new product. So it always tries to repair the product rather than giving the new one.

How to Claim Guarantee?

A guarantee is not given in the electric/electronic products. The guarantee is mostly given in the relationship matters between humans. There are very few products of electric or electronic nature that have a guarantee from its manufacturer.

Just because in guarantee, when your product is damaged or broken the company will replace it with the new one. The company will not repair it. It costs much higher for every company that’s why they avoid giving a guarantee on these products.

A Guarantee is mostly given in human relations. For example, when you take a loan from any Bank or sign any agreement with any company of your choice, then the Bank and that company ask you to bring 1 or 2 men as your guarantor. These 2 men are your guarantor that you will fulfill your promise in the agreement by completing it in time. These 2 men are your guarantor that you will pay back your loan in due time without creating any trouble. So, the guarantee is given in human relations where one or more than one person interchange with each other’s businesses.
